Congratulations to Italy. On the night they were the better team. We lost to some dreadful penalties. Simply awful.
He got kids to do a man's work...Shaw, Sterling?
No criticism of Shaw but Sterling must have something on Southgate to keep getting a game.
Rashford has been awful for Utd since he started his feed the kids campaign.Walker ? Was he playing.? Sorry but tacticaly England haven’t got a clue.

Just shows how we all have different views, I thought Walker had a tremendous tournament and Srerling was our best forward, and Rice and Phillip's were superb in our defensive midfield. Its possible that Gareth could have been a bit more adventurous in attack, but Foden, Sancho, Mount and Saka will have 12 months more experience for next years world cup.
But we need to develop a defender like Chiellini, who would probably have prevented their equaliser, I dont think I have sen a better defender in years..

Screwy…I was referring to who would have been better choices taking penalties e.g. Shaw/Sterling

Sterling is nothing but a goal line scorer and a diver to boot. As a Utd supporteri rate Shaw, he was layer of the seasonfor me not Bruno. not sure if i'd trust him on penalties but hey.!

Gutted!...but the best team won.

I agree Keith.

The Italians were all over us in the second half. England were nothing like the form from previous matches and looked like they had almost given up. I actually couldn’t be bothered to watch another half hour of extra play through partial boredom and went to bed knowing deep down that the writing was probably already on the wall.

Still, they had a good run and done well to get to the final.

Maybe next time?

Hmm, even in that match he managed to shoot straight at Schmeichel from the six yard line unless you’re talking about that ‘penalty’ that he won. True, he runs at defenders a lot and unsettles them but he never gets past them. There were times last night when he disappeared for long stretches.

The midfield was unbalanced and offered little going forwards. Lots of hard work but it was mainly individual performances, not a midfield machine.

Southgate’s substitutions were bizarre. He left it far to late to put on fresh legs and got his choice of penalty takers wildly wrong, even to the extent of putting on two ‘specialists’ in the last minute who couldn’t handle the occasion.

I’m neither surprised nor disappointed. Life goes on. Now let’s look forward to the new season and some proper football.

There seemed to be a void between midfield and that of the forwards which probably explains why we looked weak up front. Whilst Pickford had a good game his insistence of kicking long balls up front just played into the hands of the Italian defence. The only player that seemed to frustrate the Italian defence was Grealish and he was only on ten minutes. That being said I though Kane ran his socks off.

Gareth basically made the wrong choices regarding the subs and the penalty takers ... but we got to the final and should be proud of the team

Sterling is too often a threat at both ends. Too many times he was back in his own half attempting his flicks 'n' tricks and honing his diving skills but giving the ball away in dangerous positions. I was really disappointed with Saka, he was clueless and totally out of his depth. For me he should have been pulled at the end of normal time, if not before and replaced with Sancho.

Sadly the penalty takers who missed were racially abused by the usual scum bags

No, we need to side track the shoot outs and learn to win in 90 minutes

Well we were winning in 2 minutes. Then it went downhill.
